Local Science Center Hosts Prom: Science Goes Hollywood
Arizona Science Center Brings Prom to Adults During Science With A TWIST Event on May 23
PHOENIX – Arizona Science Center is turning back the clock and turning up the glam! Attendees who are 21+, will get ready to relive—or totally rewrite—their prom night at the second dazzling edition of Science With A TWIST Prom: Science Goes Hollywood. Starting at 6:00 p.m., the red carpet rolls out for a night packed with hands-on experiments, mind-blowing demonstrations, fascinating talks and a whole lot of prom-inspired fun.
Throughout the night, guests can explore various science stations floating throughout the center. Activities will be ‘Hollywood science-themed’ including stop motion video, spider web effects, foley sounds, and thaumatropes, zoetropes and forced perspective. Plus, the night will also feature a live DJ, professional prom photos, optional fresh floral corsage/boutonnieres from Urban Desert Flora and costume content. Arizona Science Center will serve up cocktails, beer, wine and light bites to celebrate the occasion.

- Mini Lecture: Science & Film
- Mini Lecture: Directors, Auteurs and the Birth of Cinema Studies
- Demonstration: Lights, Camera, Combustion
- Science stations floating throughout the Center including:
- Stop Motion Video
- Spider Web Effects
- Foley Sounds
- Thaumatropes, Zoetropes and Forced Perspective
- Live DJ, professional prom photos, optional fresh floral corsage/boutonnieres from Urban Desert Flora and Costume Contest (come dressed in your Hollywood best to participate if you’re in the competitive spirit).
