Fall in Love with Science This Season at
Arizona Science Center
Local Science Center Prepares for Fall with Nine Seasonal Events and Activities
PHOENIX, AZ, September 23, 2024 – As the leaves begin to change and summer turns to fall, Arizona Science Center is gearing up for a festive season of free community events, fall activities, new exhibitions, camps and special programming and more.
On Friday, September 20, Arizona Science Center kicked off the festivities with Pumpkinferno, a brand-new luminary walk-through experience at the Arizona State Fair. The pumpkin-themed activation features thousands of hand-carved artificial pumpkins arranged in captivating displays and allows guests to move through seven different themed zones including Monster Mugshots, Witches Brew, Night at the Gallery, Cycle Through Time, Day of the Dead, Dragon’s Lantern Liar and Expression Progression.
Calling all inventors and innovators, Arizona Science Center’s latest exhibition, Build It 2.0, will officially open on Friday, October 4. Following a wave of popularity during its first stint at the Science Center, the team is now bringing it back for a limited time. Build it. Test it. Tinker it. offers future scientists a chance to channel their inner innovator where creations come to life.
On Saturday, October 5, Arizona Science Center will partner with the Foundation for Blind Children to present Science Beyond Sight. This free community event offers guests the opportunity to explore STEM concepts using senses beyond sight. Engage in hands-on activities using touch, listening, tasting and more to understand how science truly goes beyond sight. Spanning throughout Heritage Square outside of the Science Center, activities will include Science of Stethoscopes, Blindfolded Obstacle Course Challenge, Puppy Kissing Booth with Pawsitive Friendships and more.
Schools out for fall break and students grades 1-6 are invited to Arizona Science Center for the next edition of CAMP INNOVATION and this time, they are heading to Mars. During the week-long camp session from Monday, October 7 to Friday, October 11, future astronauts will lift off on a Mission to Mars where campers will explore The Red Planet including how to safely land, what to pack and how to build sustainable communities.
For the girls looking to channel their passion for STEM, the Science Center will present Girls in STEM: Creepy Chemistry on Saturday, October 12. Girls in grades 4-8 can learn about spellbinding science through eerie experiments and chemical reactions like fizzy ghost rockets and exploding monsters to color-changing chemicals – all in time for Halloween. The full-day camp provides lunch and a frighteningly fun time.
Science with a Twist returns on Friday, October 18 with Boos & Brews. Adults 21 and over are invited for a haunting evening at Arizona Science Center to explore the eerie and unknown. Throughout the night, Guests can enjoy wickedly fun demonstrations and lectures like Herbalism, Witchcraft and Plague Doctors, Halloween Trivia and Exploding Pumpkins. Plus, enjoy hands-on activities including Pepper’s Ghost, Witches Brew Slime and more. Top the evening off with a magical costume contest, brew-tastic spirits and snacks.
On October 22, Arizona Science Center and SciTech Institute will host a statewide conference showcasing emerging trends and products in STEM at the SciTech STEM & Innovation Summit. Throughout the day-long event, educators, collaborators and key stakeholders can embark on a journey to experience the latest technology and innovation, build unique STEM networks, watch live science demonstrations and discuss how different educational institutions can improve on STEM education and awareness in Arizona.
Beginning Friday, October 25 Arizona Science Center’s annual Halloween celebration, Science Skele-bration, will officially make its return. Through Thursday, October 31, creep through the Science Center and demystify the science behind Halloween. Explore boo bubbles, skull investigations, zombie demonstrations, monster DNA and more.
