Arizona Science Center to Wrap Year with Annual Snow Week

Annual Snow Week Event Made Possible by Subaru Dec. 26-Jan. 1, 2024

 

PHOENIX – Arizona Science Center will kick off its 12th Annual Snow Week, made possible by Subaru, from Tuesday, Dec. 26 through Monday, Jan. 1 to combine curiosities for science with snow, left here in the desert. With various snow-themed demonstrations, experiences and activities, Snow Week marks the perfect family outing while Valley kids are still on Winter Break. 

Throughout the week, guests can enjoy the Snow Hill, icy demonstrations, snowy Curiosity Cart activities, SnowPals, yard games and more. On select days, kids can also compete in the Penguin Obstacle Course and enjoy special theater performances of the Fire n’ Ice Snowdown, a live experience full of science that explores what happens when Mr. Snow meets Lady Flame. Plus, CREATE at Arizona Science Center will open at 9:30 a.m. throughout snow week. Enjoy Upcycled Snow Pals, CREATE Mini Maker Experiences Lego Challenge, free Polar Pop-outs, and Under the Hood, engineered by Subaru. 

Additional snow-themed ticketed experiences will be available, including shows in the Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater and the Dorrance Planetarium, as well as themed CREATE activities and the Mountain Climbing Blow-Up Course.

Member-Only Hours daily from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Open to the public 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

COST:  Snow Week activities included FREE with an Arizona Science Center Membership or general admission ticket. Kids under 3 are always free. Additional tickets are required for the Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater, Dorrance Planetarium, and featured exhibition. General Admission: Adult (18+): $21.95 | Child (3-17): $15.95 | 3 and under always free

Snow Week daily activities, included with general admission:

  • Snow Hill: Arizona Science Center’s Snow Hill returns to give Guests a truly snowy experience. Find it in Heritage Square outside Arizona Science Center’s main entrance.
  • SnowPal Construction Zone: Grab your hats and gloves before you enter our SnowPal Construction Zone. Put your skills to the test to create the perfect pal—made from real snow.
  • SubZero Science: Explore the science behind ice and snow with live dazzling demonstrations and roaming learning labs throughout all four levels of Arizona Science Center.
  • Dazzling Demonstrations at the Daniel Cracchiolo Theater: Blue Crew's live Dazzling Demonstrations are sure to amaze! At 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., guests are invited to discover a new science topic.
  • Reindeer Games: ‘Yule’ love these reindeer games! While in the lobby, spend some quality time with your crew and explore fun yard games such as life-size chess, cornhole, Giant Connect Four and more,
  • Clouds of Fun: What happens when boiling hot water meets liquid nitrogen? Find out with our giant liquid nitrogen cloud that closes out each day of Snow Week.

Special Activations, included with general admission:

  • Penguin Obstacle Course (Dec. 26-31): Embrace your inner penguin and race your friends and family on our brand-new Penguin Obstacle Course! Squeeze through tunnels, finesse (yule) logs and other pop-ups, and more. Socks required. Socks available for $2.
  • Fire n’ Ice Snowdown (Dec. 27-31 at 12:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.): We all know Arizona is known for being hot, but cold has come to steal the spotlight. What happens when Mr. Snow and Lady Flame meet? A LIVE show filled with fiery experiments and icy comebacks, of course!
